Need free legal help? New Mexico Free Legal Answers is a virtual legal advice clinic in which qualifying users post civil legal question to be answered by pro bono attorneys licensed in their state. Question topics include Family, Divorce, Custody, Housing, Eviction, Homelessness, Consumer Rights, Financial, Work, Employment, Unemployment, Health and Disability, Civil Rights, Income Maintenance, Juvenile and Education Law. ABA Free Legal Answers is a project of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service. The New Mexico Legal Resources for the Elderly program helps New Mexicans age 55 and older. Call 1-800-876-6657.

The Silver City New Mexico Legal Aid office is open M-F 8:30am – 12pm, 1:00-5:00 pm, 301 W. College Avenue, (575) 388-0091, https://www.legalaidoffices.com/city/nm-silver_city. Intake is closed until January 3, 2022. Please call for services.

Military and Veterans: ABA Home Front provides legal information, resources, and a directory of legal programs for veterans, service members, and military families. Programs listed include military legal assistance offices, legal aid and pro bono organizations, lawyer referral and information services, and military-specific programs where available. Military: The ABA Military Pro Bono Project accepts case referrals from military attorneys on behalf of junior-enlisted, active-duty military personnel facing civil legal issues, and it works to place these cases with pro bono attorneys. Visit www.militaryprobono.org.

The State Bar General Referral Program connects you to an attorney for a 30-minute consultation for a $35 fee. After that, you decide if you need further services from the attorney and come to an agreement with them about costs.
