FDA is warning consumers and health care providers that the agency has seen a sharp increase in hand sanitizer products that are labeled to contain ethanol (also known as ethyl alcohol) but that have tested positive for methanol contamination. Methanol, or wood alcohol, is a substance that can be toxic when absorbed through the skin or ingested and can be life-threatening when ingested.
Consumers who have been exposed to hand sanitizer containing methanol should seek immediate treatment, which is critical for potential reversal of toxic effects of methanol poisoning.
WNMU’s One Stop, located in the Brancheau P.E. Complex (Room 243), is your wellness center offering food pantry items and when available, cleaning supplies, kitchenware, blankets, and toiletries. Students can pick up a limited amount of supplies during open hours of operation. Due to COVID-19, the One Stop is open upon request for the rest of the spring and summer semesters.
